Established in 1867, Fairport’s name originated from Perrinsville. It quickly became a busy canal port with a reputation for being a "fair port" hence the name.
Fairport is known as the "Crown Jewel of the Erie Canal" in Monroe County.
Fairport, New York, covers an area of 1.59 square miles and is 9 miles East of downtown Rochester. Fairport has the popular Fairport Canal Days Festival. Located at the east side of Monroe County, Fairport offers quick and easy access to everywhere east of Rochester.
