How to File a Complaint

If you believe you have experienced housing discrimination, you may contact:

  • New York State Division of Human Rights - file a complaint online, visit dhr.ny.gov, or call (844) 697-3471. TTY: (718) 741-8300.
  • U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) - report housing discrimination online or call 1-800-669-9777. HUD accepts calls from people who are deaf or hard of hearing through the Telecommunications Relay Service.
  • New York State Department of State, Division of Licensing Services (complaints about a real estate licensee) - file a licensing complaint or call (518) 474-4429.
